Jhulan Goswami becomes highest wicket-taker in Women’s World Cup history

Indian Pace bowling legend, Jhulan Goswami was the highest wicket-taker in the 50-over World Cup history when she became the first Indian woman to achieve the feat. Having taken 40 wickets in her World Cup innings, the right-arm pace bowling colossus has now passed Lyn Fullston, who took 39 wickets in her World Cup career.
As an experienced player, Jhulan Goswami is currently playing in her fifth World Cup for the Indians. She boasts excellent World Cup statistics. The 39-year-old pace bowler has featured in 31 matches for India in World Cup cricket and averages a miserly 20.77.
Jhulan Goswami has also leaked runs at a rate of just 3.37 runs per over in the World Cup. India posted their second win in a multi-nation tournament after defeating the West Indies in their third match of the 2022 World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur help India hammer West Indies
As a result of choosing to bat first, India posted a total of 317/8, with opener Smriti Mandhana (123 runs) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109 runs) putting on a stand of 184 runs for the 4th wicket to push the score past 300.
For the West Indies, Anisa Mohammed capped off a successful nine-over spell with two wickets. Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews opened the batting with a century stand in just 12.2 overs.
After that, West Indies looked like they were on course for victory. However, Stafanie Taylor’s team lost wickets in a hail of blows and was bowled out for 162. Dottin and Matthews scored 62 and 43 runs, respectively, but none of the other willow wielders were able to pass the 20-run mark. Sneh Rana scalped three wickets with the ball for the Mithali Raj-led outfit. Smriti Mandhana won the Player of the Match award for her rollicking knock with the willow in hand.
