Jhulan Goswami, the veteran Indian pacer has become the second woman after Mithali Raj to play 200 ODIs. She achieved this feat on Saturday while playing against Australia in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 at Eden Park.

In a career spanning two decades, Goswami is achieving a lot of milestones these days, despite being the most senior player at the World Cup. She is a part of five World Cups since her debut in 2005. After becoming the first woman to grab 250 wickets and also standing at the top with the most wickets in the World Cup tournament, Goswami reached this invincible landmark of 200 ODIs. Indian captain Mithali Raj holds the record for playing most ODIs in the entire history of women’s cricket with 230 ODIs so far. Both the Indian cricketers are followed by former England cricketer Carlot Edwards who played 191 ODIs.

ICC shared a video on social media where the ‘Chakda Express’ could be seen receiving her cap from Raj. “Well thank you so much everyone, it’s been an honour to play for India. It’s been a pleasure whenever I’ve wore this jersey, it’s always been special. And I’ve always tried to contribute more that 100%, whether it’s on the field or off the field. Hopefully we will do well today as well.” Said Goswami after receiving the cap.

Mithali Raj equals the record of most 50 plus scores in Women’s World Cup

India team captain Mithali Raj played a half-century knock off 77 balls and equals the record of scoring most 50 plus runs alongside former New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hockley in World Cups. After surpassing former England player Charlotte Edwards, she scored her 63rd 50 in her career.

Meanwhile, in India’s match against mighty Australia, the latter won the toss and opted to bowl first. India scored 277 runs by losing 7 wickets. Australia responded by reaching the target at 49.3 over and won the game by six wickets.
