IPL 2022: “He is a bit emotional and feels low…” Mohammad Kaif condemns KKR for their treatment of Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Kaif

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised the Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav and criticized the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for their treatment of the spinner.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Kaif said: “Kuldeep Yadav is a proven match-winner. But he is someone who also needs to be managed well. He is a bit emotional and feels low if he isn’t given the bowling or is dropped from the team.”

“This way he was treated at KKR when Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan were the captains, he used to be made to sit at home and not even in the squad. When you behave like this, any match-winner feels the pressure.” He added.

Kuldeep Yadav didn’t play a single game during IPL 2021 when he was with the KKR. He was restricted to just five games in 2020. He was once the backbone of the India’s spin department and he is the only Indian bowler to record two hat-tricks.

The left-arm chinaman bowler was released by the KKR franchise, and was acquired by the DC for Rs. 2 crores in this year’s IPL. Even though devalued by the KKR, he made a terrific debut for the DC and is taking the tournament by storm. He received the ‘Player of the Match’ award with the figures of 3 for 18 in their win against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

In that match, MI gave a target of 177/5 in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Rohit Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh and Kieron Pollard. In response DC’s unbeaten partnership between Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav helped DC clench their first victory after reaching the target in just 18.2 overs. Lalit scored 48 off 38 balls and Axar played a knock of 38 runs off 17 balls.
