Kyle Jamieson says decision to postpone IPL 2021 was correct

Kyle Jamieson expressed his experience of getting out of India amidst the surging COVID-19 cases was an ‘interesting experience’ as BCCI helped himself and the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to fly to England. Previously the IPL bound Black caps were finding it insecure to stay at Delhi, the Covid hotspot in India, so they flew to Maldives.
“We had some pretty good people around us you know from BCCI and our franchise and New Zealand cricket as well and I was just gonna trust that they were gonna do the right thing” said Kyle Jamieson in an interview with Cricbuzz.
“I guess the situation in India was dire and mindful of what was going outside the bubble, it was the right decision to postpone IPL, We just kept trusting those people keeping under control and thankfully they helped us get to England.” he added.
The 26 year old opened up that he certainly focused on the upcoming Test as it’s pretty special to be a part of the Lord’s Test and part of the England tour and then obviously the final as well.

The Kiwi speedster, Kyle Jamieson answered some interesting questions put up during the interactive session with Cricbuzz.
Q1: How do you plan to utilise the slope at Lord’s?
“Today I spoke to Tim (Tim southee)about it. I sort of find both the ends to be fine . Tim will pick his end and whoever else is playing will do the same and Kane will throw the ball at us and tell what end we’re going from so. I am sure there is some stuff around there and people have obviously exploited.”
Kyle Jamieson has currently been considered as the spearhead of Kiwi pace bowling attack and is expected to play a phenomenal role in the upcoming England vs Newzealand Test series. In case the Right arm medium fast bowler impresses in his maiden outing in English conditions he shall definitely be part of Newzealand squad which is to play in the historic inaugural edition of WTC finals against India.
Q2: Does the Away from factor play on your mind?
“For me its not something I read in huge amount into around their home and away record but I think the group’s philosophy is lot around focus on each game and control what we can.”
England is having the home ground advantage and after the WTC finals spot being defied by the Indians earlier this year, the England team shall definitely be looking this as an opportunity to regain their glory in the longest format of cricket.
Q3: Do you have an eye on the WTC Final?
“For me it’s my first Trip to England and if I get too distracted by something with 2 or 3 weeks, I’ll probably end up in not a great shape and tend to try and take care of this game. I am just trying to focus on this test and edge best.”
This is just the initial phase of his career and he still has a decade more to go. Jamieson will definitely gain a good experience from the upcoming international assignments which the Kiwis are set to play.
