Mark Wood has been one of the best pacers in recent times. His pace along with accuracy has been something many batters have feared. Currently among the fastest bowlers in the world, Wood averages 140 kmph in most of his spells. 

Making his England debut in 2015, he didn’t break into the English Test side till 2021, after great performances. He was a part of England’s 2019 World Cup winning squad, where he picked up 18 wickets in 10 matches. He was also in England’s 2021 T20 World Cup winning squad, playing all group stage matches. Unfortunately he had to pull out due to an injury. 

Wood started off his career by playing for Northumberland County Cricket Club in 2008, but shifted to Durham County Cricket Club in 2011. He didn’t feature in any Franchise leagues until 2018, where he was purchased by Chennai Super Kings. He played only one match.

Four years later, he was purchased by Lucknow Supergiant but missed the first season due to an injury. He finally made his LSG debut in 2023. In The Hundred, he plays for London Fire and plays for Dubai Capitals in the ILT20
