The long wait is over as Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Moeen Ali will join the latest season of Indian Premier League 2022 as his visa papers got sorted to travel to India.

According to reports, the 36-year-old had applied for the travel paper on February 28. Despite being a frequent traveller to India and having taken part in the IPL, his visa took more than three weeks to come, which resulted in his delayed departure to India from the United Kingdom. Now that everything is cleared, he is set to join the CSK team on Thursday, March 24.

Moeen Ali’s father Munir Ali said: “He picked his papers yesterday and is ready to fly.” Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK confirmed this to PTI and said: “He will arrive in Mumbai in the evening and will straight away go to isolation.”
“He will not be available for the first game against Kolkata Knight Riders but we are happy that all the uncertainty has ended.” Viswanathan added.

Moeen Ali’s father had migrated to England from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POC). So, a set procedure is followed for the people of Pakistani descent. But he is a frequent visitor to India and has even taken part in the last three IPL.

Ali was one of the four players retained by the franchise alongside captain MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the mega-auction in Bengaluru this year. With his fine all-around performance, he had played a huge role at number three in the success of CSK last year. Despite his arrival ahead of the start of their campaign, CSK will miss Ali’s service in their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Being the defending champions, CSK will play the opening game of the IPL 2022 against the runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK will play their second match against Lucknow Super Giants on March 31.
