The Pakistan cricket team’s campaign in the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup came to an unfortunate loss against Australia in the semi-final match on Thursday. However, they produced a fighting game throughout the tournament, especially during the knockout stage.

As per a recent revelation, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who played a tremendous knock of 67 runs off 52 deliveries, had been hospitalized for the last two nights. The 29-year-old was down with a severe chest infection.

This is a warrior,” Hayden said after the semi-final while talking to Star Sports. “He‘s been brilliant through the campaign. He battled through a severe chest condition and he has great courage.”

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar also leapt massive praises for the right-handed batter’s knock against the mighty Aussies. 

“Can you imagine this guy played for his country today & gave his best. He was in the hospital for the last two days. Massive respect for Mohammad Rizwan. Hero,” Akhtar tweeted with Rizwan’s photograph.

Later, Pakistan team doctor Najeeb Somroo provided a detailed update on Rizwan’s condition prior to the all-important clash

“Mohammad Rizwan developed a severe chest infection on November 9th after which he was admitted to the hospital. He spent two nights in the ICU recovering,” Somroo said in the press conference. 

“He made an incredible recovery and was deemed fit before the match. We can see his great determination and tenacity that shows his spirit of performing for the country. And we can see how he performed today.

“The decision regarding his health was made by the whole team management. This was regarding the morale of the whole team and therefore we kept it within the team,” he added.
