[Watch] Mohammed Siraj imitates Ravindra Jadeja’s “sword celebration” during 1st Test
India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj celebrated all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s century by imitating his “sword celebration” with a bottle in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali.
From the very start, India dominated the game. All had eyed Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match for India. But it was Jadeja entertaining the fans, as they were anticipating the famous “sword celebration” after his scoring his second Test century. The dressing room stood and applauded over this superb performance of one of the best all-rounders in the game of cricket.
While “Jaddu” gaily showed off his talent with the “sword”, Mohammed Siraj, standing at the boundary, hilariously imitated Jadeja’s trademark celebration with a water bottle in his hand like a sword. The camera personnel, while moving the camera, happened to capture this delightful scene.

Balls had started taking spin: Ravindra Jadeja
Rishabh Pant, known for his powerful and quick hits, unleashed 9 fours and 4 sixes, adding 96 off 97 balls. He fell behind just 4 runs to complete his century when Suranga Lakmal bowled him. All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also got involved in a fine inning with Jadeja in a 130-run partnership for the seventh wicket, scoring a quick 61 runs off 82 balls.
Jadeja remained not out with 175 runs, 17 fours and 3 sixes. The Saurashtra player could have made his first double century but the team declared the innings at 574/8, disappointing his fans over the decision.
“Yeah there was a message from inside and I was also telling them. When I was batting, balls had started taking spin and there was variable bounce. So, I told them that the wicket is playing tricks and we can put them [Sri Lanka] into bat,” said Jadeja in the press conference after Day 2 game.
