Descision on IPL 2022 promo featuring MS Dhoni Comes up! Withdrawn due to this violating reason
MS Dhoni
Following a complaint received by the Advertising Standards Council of India, former India and CSK captain MS Dhoni’s IPL promo featuring him as a bus conductor has been red-carded and will be withdrawn (ASCI). After a Road Safety Organization lodged a complaint citing a violation of traffic rules, the concerned authority sought modification/withdrawal of the IPL promotion.
The Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) complaint was upheld, and the decision to remove the advertisement was made. MS Dhoni plays a bus driver in the aforementioned commercial, where he stops the bus in the middle of the road. In the video, a police officer inquires as to the reason for the sudden halt, and MS Dhoni responds that he and the passengers are watching the ‘Super Over’ of a match.
The video was created as a promotional activity for the ongoing IPL 2022 which was featured by MS Dhoni
The police officer dismisses this as a common occurrence and drives past the bus. Following a thorough investigation, the ASCI determined that the video should be modified or withdrawn by the concerned party at the IPL, who, in turn, has agreed in writing to remove the video by April 20, as reported by The Times of India.
In terms of the tournament, 14 matches have already been played in the league stage, with the top four teams currently being Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings. KKR leads the table with six points after one loss and three wins in four matches.
The other three teams are all tied on four points, with only the Gujarat Titans remaining unbeaten in the tournament thus far. The IPL’s hot favourites, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, have yet to open their accounts, having been defeated in all three games played so far. The final league game will be played on May 22, followed by the playoffs.
