MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni, just a few days before IPL, shocked the cricket world after stepping down from Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy. Following the match between CSK and Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, March 31, MS Dhoni announced another shocking decision in the post-match presentation.

The former CSK captain was asked whether this is his last IPL that he wants to say goodbye to by hitting a lot of runs. To this, he smiled and replied in a roundabout way that proved of a big goal behind his starting to score big runs in this IPL.

The 40-year-old said: “Well, as far as this tournament goes, definitely there will be pressure on me as you can see, I haven’t played much cricket and certainly there are some goals important than the place of a captain which sir Jadeja is going forward with. And now that you asked about captaincy, I guess, a lot of pressure is unloaded from your shoulders and you can focus more on your game.”

When he was asked about those goals, MS Dhoni said: “Now I don’t have to calculate a lot like I used to, if you know what I mean. But if I could add runs with the bat then… this is because of something coming up which is more important than the IPL and if I could score some good runs and hit big, then I guess the selection team of BCCI will see me as well like the way they are keeping a close eye on other players.”

IPL is a place that brings talented players into the limelight. It nurtures them and provides the Indian team with the best players in every department. Indian team needs MS Dhoni who can play the role of a finisher and if the legendary player himself wants to get selected, then the T20 tournament IPL unquestionably is a place to prepare him for the big event which will take place in Australia later this year.

You wished this to be true but alas! You are trapped.
