The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lead their fourth title. Following a disastrous season, CSK didn’t only bounce back but did so in style as they stormed into the finals eventually lifting the trophy. The Men in Yellow toppled a solid Kolkata Knight Riders outfit to make it four IPL trophies in their cabinet.

Led by the openers, Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK were unstoppable with the bat. With the ball in hand, it was MS Dhoni’s brilliance from behind the stumps and some great execution from the bowling unit which got the job done for the Super Kings. While they looked a tad unbalanced on paper, the CSK outfit proved the critics wrong and added yet another title to their name.

CSK’s IPL victory celebration took place on Saturday as MS Dhoni and other players of the franchise gathered to celebrate the win with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. During the ceremony, Dhoni reiterated that his final game will be at the Chepauk but he is not sure if it will be next season or five seasons down the lane.

I have always planned my cricket. The last game I played was in Ranchi. The last home game in ODI was at my hometown in Ranchi. So, hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in 5 years’ time, we don’t really know,” Dhoni said at the ceremony.

The ceremony was graced by India Cements Managing Director N Srinivasan, former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, BCCI secretary Jay Shah and IPL chairman Brijesh Patel. Dhoni went on to hail the franchise’s huge fan following and their unconditional support as he added how grateful the team was for such love and support.

Overall, it is the fan following which CSK has got, it goes much beyond Tamil Nadu, it goes beyond the borders of India. Wherever we play — be it in Bengaluru, Johannesburg or Dubai, we have got the support. Even during the lean patch, we missed two years of IPL and that was the period CSK was most talked about on social media,” he added.
