MS Dhoni, the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India legend, has always chosen the number seven regardless of whether he was playing for India or in the Indian Premier League. It is because of his accomplishments that many people think no. 7 is very important to Dhoni. However, during an interaction with India Cements, he explained the real reason for his selection of the number seven.

“A lot of people initially thought that 7 is a lucky number for me and all of that. But I chose the number for a very simple reason. I was born on the 7th of July. So it’s the 7th day of the 7th month, that was the reason”, MS Dhoni Says.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni also discussed how emotional he is whenever he dons the iconic No.7 jersey. The cricketing legend has made No. 7 synonymous with his name, just as it is in football with Cristiano Ronaldo. He asserted:

“A lot of people said 7 is a neutral number and even if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t really go against you. That also I added to my answer. I am not very superstitious about it, but it’s one number that is close to my heart and I have kept it over the years with me.”

MS Dhoni remains the only captain to have won all three white-ball tournaments organized by the ICC. He led the Indian Test team to victory and also won four IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings, the second-highest total for any franchise in the cash-rich tournament. With Dhoni approaching the end of his playing career, CSK fans will hope to bid farewell to their beloved ‘Thala’ with another record-equaling IPL title. Dhoni’s men have been training in Surat over the last week in the lead up to IPL 2022. The CSK skipper said he is very happy with the facilities that are on offer in Surat, a venue that he chose for the pre-season training camp.
