Netherlands won by 5 wickets against Zimbabwe.
Looks like Adelaide has decided to be the epicenter of the most thrilling matches of this ongoing T20 World Cup. The reason for saying that is, that the city witnessed two quality matches that proved to be nail-biting thrillers to boost. While the two underdogs, Zimbabwe and Netherlands, went head to head in the first fixture, India clashed against Bangladesh in the latter.
In the first match, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first as they planned to dominate the Netherlands with the same form they had against Pakistan.
Zimbabwe lost their first 3 wickets with only 20 runs on the board, and only 6 overs played. With Sean Williams coming onto the pitch, he contributed a valuable 28 off 23 deliveries to keep the scoreboard ticking. Sikandar Raza smashed a quick-fire 40 off just 24, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
After both the pairs got out, the other batsmen kept returning to the pavilion on quick sessions, putting up a total of 117 to defend. Men in orange had an exceptional bowling performance as Paul van Meekeren took 3 while Logan van Beek, Bas de Leede, and Brandon Glover took 2 wickets each. Fred Klaassen also managed to bag a single wicket to his name.
For the Dutch, opener Stephen Myburgh returned early while Max O’Dowd smashed a well-deserved half-century off 47 deliveries with 3rd in the lineup, Tom Cooper, who also contributed a valuable 32 of 29. This brought the match to a winning stage with Bas de Leede hitting the winning runs.
Zimbabwe now holds the fourth position in group 2 while the Netherlands stays at the bottom, even though both teams have won the same number of matches. The net run rate is playing a crucial factor, especially in group 2, and will continue to do so in as we approach the final stages of the Super 12.
