On 24th October, an unidentified man and woman kidnapped a 1-year-old baby in Ranchi. A mother and her two children were shopping in a stall when the kidnappers  went up to the mother. They informed her that famous cricketer, MS Dhoni, is distributing free money to people in need.

The mother requested the kidnappers to take her and her children to the former Indian cricketer, which they obliged. The mother and the 1-year-old traveled with the kidnappers, while her 8-year-old stayed back at the stall. When they stopped in an area called Harmu, they asked the mother to get off the bike and sped away with her daughter.

The police have found discrepancies in her statement. She had earlier claimed it was a government official who was giving money to the needy but later changed her statement by stating MS Dhoni was giving money. The mother had filed a complaint with the police and now an investigation is underway.
