While one of Eden Gardens and MA Chidambaram Stadium was being touted to host the group-stage game between India and Pakistan, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has emerged as the recent favourite to host the mega clash. Considering the massive seating capacity at the stadium, the BCCI is tempted to host India vs Pakistan at the worldโs largest stadium with the Final also expected to be played there.
As per a report in the Indian Express, the Indian cricket board has almost finalized the Narendra Modi Stadium as the venue for India vs Pakistan. Meanwhile, the report also claimed that the full schedule of the quadrennial event will be released shortly after the Indian Premier League Final on 28 May.
โThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to host the high-voltage match at the Ahmedabad stadium in anticipation of a large number of fans who are expected to travel to India from abroad for the fixture, it is learnt. With a seating capacity of 1 lakh, the Narendra Modi Stadium is the countryโs largest,โ claimed the report.ย
BCCI consults Indian team management to decide venues

The report also claimed that the Indian cricket board consulted the Indian team management to know their preferences before zeroing upon the venues for league matches involving the hosts. And the team management has asked BCCI to allot fixtures against Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa to venues that aid spinners to exploit the home advantage.ย
โThe Indian team has performed well on slow tracks in the past few years at home. So the team management had requested that whenever the schedule is being prepared the Indian team should face top teams on slow pitches. They wanted to have a home advantage,โ a source in the BCCI was quoted saying by the newspaper.
