The 2023 ODI World Cup is just a few months away now. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the hosts for the quadrennial event announced the complete schedule for the event on Tuesday (27 June). The schedule revealed the 2023 ODI World Cup venues.
While the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be hosting the three important fixtures- the opening match, India vs Pakistan, and the 2023 ODI World Cup Final, Wankhede Stadium which hosted the infamous 2011 World Cup Final and mecca of Indian cricket, Eden Gardens will host the semifinals. Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the summit clash of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
MA Chidambaram Stadium or the Chepauk has been kept out of the equation due to the likely rains in November. “Mumbai’s Wankhede and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens are two likely venues for the World Cup semi finals. Earlier, Chennai was also in the race but it seems Eden is slightly ahead now,” a BCCI source was quoted saying by PTI on Monday.
“One of the reasons could be the November weather in Chennai where there is always a chance of rain.”
