India and Pakistan have been drawn in the same group, while England and Australia face each other in group B.

The 2024 T20I World Cup which is scheduled for the start of June has drawn the four groups of the competition according to a report by The Telegraph. The 20 teams have been drawn into groups of 5. 

The hosts West Indies and USA have been drawn into Groups A and Group C. India and their biggest rivals, Pakistan, are drawn in Group A, along with Ireland, Canada and USA. England and Australia are also drawn in the same group. Hosts WI have T20I powerhouses like New Zealand and Afghanistan in their group. South Africa have been grouped with Asian teams Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Netherlands, who beat South Africa in the 2022 ICC T20I World Cup, are also in the same group.

The teams from Group A will be playing all of their matches in the United States, while all the matches of Group B will be played in Group B. There are 10 venues, with 3 in the USA and 7 in the Caribbean.

Format of the 2024 ICC T20I World Cup

Each team will play once against the teams in their group. The two teams that finish with the highest points will be sent to the Super 8, where they will once again be divided into two groups. There will be no telecasted draw, but the teams will have been drawn according to pre-tournament seeding.

This is quite different from the previous 2 editions of the T20 World Cups. In 2021 and 22, there was a Super 12 group, with 6 in each group. The top two of each group qualified for the semi-finals. This is the first time there have been more than 16 teams in an ICC event, with 20 teams. England will go into the tournament as defending champions.
