35-year-old Karnataka cricketer passes away during match due to cardiac arrest

On 22nd February K Hoysala, a cricketer from Karnataka, passed away during a cricket match in Bangalore. He was representing Karnataka in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department South Zone tournament, facing Tamil Nadu. He collapsed during the pre-match huddle.
CPR was administered and he was also rushed to the nearby Bowring Hospital, but passed away on the way. He was declared dead on arrival by the doctors in the hospital. Later, doctors suggested that the cricketer had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Hoysala was brought in dead, mostly due to a heart attack. We have completed the postmortem and are awaiting the report.
Dr. Manoj Kumar of Bowring Hospital said (via India Today)
Hoysala played for Karnataka for their youth teams and U25 team. He also represented his state in the IA&AD competitions. In the Karnataka Premier League, or now known as KSCA Maharaja Trophy 2023, he played for the Bellary Tuskers. He later also played for Shivamogga Lions, with whom he recently reached the semi-finals.
Noida man passes away while playing cricket
Vikas Negi, 34-year old engineer residing in Noida, passed away while playing cricket. He was playing in a tennis-ball cricket tournament on a weekend. During the match, he was at the non-striker’s end and then walked up to his teammate. While returning he collapsed on the pitch, with everyone running to check him. It was all caught on camera.
He was rushed to the nearby Jaypee Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. After the post-mortem, it was revealed that he had suffered a heart-attack due to complications of Covid-19, but was fit and healthy regardless.
Cardiovascular diseases have been on the rise for the past couple of years. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, sports across the world have seen fans and players collapsing on-field due to cardiac arrests or heart attacks. The National Institutes of Health, USA, has said cardiovascular diseases has been on the side in young people across the world.
