Though he is outstanding in T20 cricket, and in ODIs, many believe Sanju Samson should have been given the chance.

Suryakumar Yadav is a part of India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. But his inclusion in the squad has been questioned by many, including former cricketers.
The major argument is his not getting adapted to the 50-over format. Though he is outstanding in T20 cricket, and in ODIs, many believe Sanju Samson should have been given the chance.
But South Africa legend AB de Villiers expressed how he is relieved to see SKY’s name in the squad. Mr. 360 acknowledged that Suryakumar does have a problem in the ODI format but he is hoping to see Suryakumar make the tiny mind switch to get adapted to the format.
“I am relieved to see SKY in the World Cup squad. You guys know I am a big fan. He plays in a similar fashion to how I used to in T20 cricket. He hasn’t cracked ODI cricket yet, but it’s a tiny mind switch that he has got to make. He has all the ability to do it and I hope he gets his opportunity in the World Cup,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.
Tom Moody is against Suryakumar Yadav’s selection in the ODI World Cup squad
As mentioned, the cricket fraternity is divided over Suryakumar Yadav’s inclusion. Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has his say regarding the same.
He objected to SKY’s getting a chance in the squad and deemed his selection as a lucky one. Moody also believes that youngster Tilak Varma‘s presence in the squad would have given India a left-right hand combination.
Suryakumar made his ODI debut in 2021 against Sri Lanka and went on to feature in 26 matches, scoring 511 runs at an average of just 24.33. The 32-year-old even scripted an unwanted record when he got out for three consecutive ducks.
