Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers settled the debate of who is the best finisher between him and former India captain MS Dhoni. The cricket fraternity loves to discuss who between the two greats is the best finisher.

De Villiers said it’s Dhoni who wins the race here and the Proteas legend also said that the iconic six by Dhoni in the 2011 World Cup has been engraved in his mind. “Obviously me (laughs). No, I would say definitely MS Dhoni. I love watching him play,” de Villiers said on a Q & A session on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

De Villiers then praised Dhoni for his incredible achievements in international cricket. “The things he has pulled off in the past… I think of that 2011 World Cup – hitting that straight six to win the World Cup. That will be engraved in my mind forever. MS has done it so many times in all formats of the game,” added Mr. 360.

AB de Villiers urges youngster to learn from MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is a hard hitter and he has often finished matches in style. AB de Villiers pointed out that Captain Cool doesn’t play fancy shots and advised youngster to do the same – to play in the V before going for fancy hitting.

Dhoni retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, but he still takes part in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In international cricket, Dhoni has scored 4876 Test runs, 10773 ODI runs, and 1617 T20I runs. This year, he led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth IPL trophy. He may come back in the 2024 season but his comeback will depend on his fitness.
