Jaiswal earned his call to don the white jersey for team India in the first Test match against India. And though the match was a one-sided one, fans did enjoy watching Jaiswal hammering West Indies’ bowlers.
Jaiswal scored 171 runs off 387 balls while opening the match alongside captain Rohit Sharma. The duo stitched a 229-run stand which helped them cross 400 (421/5d), and as West Indies were bundled out for a mere 130 runs in their second innings, Rohit Sharma and Co. emerged victorious by innings and 141 runs.
It’s worth noting that before making his Test debut, the Mumbai batter played only 16 first-class matches. But in those 16 matches, he amassed 2016 runs with 10 centuries at a brilliant average of 84. It will be interesting to watch him bat in the second and last Test, starting July 20 in Trinidad.
