AB de Villiers had earlier told fans that Virat Kohli was missing the series because he is expecting his 2nd child.

A few days before the start of England’s tour of India, Virat Kohli pulled out of the series citing personal reasons. Many rumors were spread, with some saying his mother was sick, but it was quashed by his brother. It was then revealed by AB de Villiers that Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, was pregnant with their 2nd child. 

Days after revealing it, the former South African captain apologized for claiming Sharma was pregnant, and the info he gave was false. He told Dainik Bhaskar that Kohli had taken a break because he had the right to and wished him well.

Family comes first and then cricket. I made a terrible mistake on my YouTube channel. That information was wrong and not true at all. Virat has every right to take a break from national duties due to family reasons. I think whatever's best for Virat's family, comes first. No one knows what's happening there, all I can do is wish him well. Whatever the reason for his break, I hope he can come back stronger, better and fresh from this.

In Kohli’s place, Rajat Patidar came in and was handed his Test debut in the Vizag Test. In the two Tests he played, he scored 32 and 9 in the two innings he batted. 

Test squad announcement delayed due to availability of players

Just a few days left for the start of the Third test, which will be played in Rajkot. With the squad not yet announced, many have theorized the delay of the squad is due to Virat Kohli. Many sources claimed the BCCI were unsure if the 35-year-old was still ready to return, but Sports Tak has claimed Kohli is not the reason.

The report has claimed that the selectors are waiting for reports from the NCA regarding KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. They missed out the 2nd Test due to injuries, and the BCCI want to see if the duo will be fit in time for the 3rd Test match.
