23-year-old Abdullah Shafique from Pakistan pulled off a one-handed catch leaping to his left while fielding at short leg on Day 4 of the 1st test against Sri Lanka. A careful watch of the delivery being played helped Abdullah grab a stunner to dismiss Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, Sadeera Samarawickrama.
Despite being completely wrong-footed and going off balance, Abdullah managed to get hold of the ball. Pakistan took a whopping eighteen catches in this Test. It is the first time in 29 years that Pakistan have done so. The last time they took these many catches was in 1994 against New Zealand in Auckland.
Take a look at Abdullah Shafique’s extraordinary effort which stunned the audience and the opposition batters. Sadeera can be seen edging the delivery while trying to play forward, which was unbelievably caught by Shafique as a reflex.
Pakistan head into Day 5 on a high

Pakistan ended Day 4 on a high as they have only left 83 runs for themselves to chase on the final day of the Test match. An all-round bowling display from Pakistan ensured a meager total for the side to chase in the 4th innings. Abdullah Shafique’s stunning catch gave Pakistan a vital breakthrough in the day.
At stumps on Day 4, Pakistan stand at 48/3 with 83 runs to chase in 98 overs tomorrow. What seems like an already achieved win, will give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. However, Sri Lanka have got some really good spinners in Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis. If the two spinners make inroads early on Day 5, fans might get to see a thrilling finish to this Test match.
