“Horrible umpiring at its peak”- Kumar Dharmasena faces fans’ wrath after multiple errors during SL vs AUS Test

Sri Lankan team have delivered impressive performance in the on-going Galle Test against Australia but the same cannot be said about the country’s umpire, Kumar Dharmasena. He was criticised severely after multiple errors.
This has not been the best match for Dharmasena because he committed atleast three errors. His mistakes could have helped Australia dismiss the Lankans earlier. Australia had lost reviews and it cost them heavily as they no longer could ask for a DRS.
Mitchell Swepson’s delivery caught Kushal Mendis on Day 4. However Dharmasena didn’t appear interested in the appeal. Replays showed the call should have been given an out because the ball was clearly collecting leg stump as it turned back into middle.
Sri Lanka took control of match on Day 3 as they batted throughout the day by losing just four wickets. On the fourth day of the Test after Dinesh Chandimal smashed a brilliant double hundred and the Lankans ended their first innings with a staggering score of 554 runs and got a 190-run lead. The same performance they had put up with the ball. Australia had scored 117 runs at the end of 33 overs for the loss of seven wickets. They were trailing Sri Lanka by 73 runs.
While Australia have won the Warne-Murali trophy, Sri Lankans are determined to win the Test against the top-ranked Australia. When the match hasn’t gone to plan for the Aussies, Steve Smith ended an 18-month stretch without a century to produce a century in the first innings. He also shared a 134-run stand with fellow centurion Marnus Labuschagne. This Test hundred also put the former Australian captain one ahead of Indian rival Virat Kohli.
