During Afghanistan’s T20 Premier T20 tournament, Shpageeza Cricket League at the Alokozay Kabul International Cricket Ground in Kabul, a suicide bomb blast interrupted the match on the evening of Friday, July 29.
The incident took place in the 22nd over of the match between Pamir Zalmi and the Band-e-Amir Dragons. The bomb went off in the spectators’ stand and after it there were only chaos and players from both the sides were rushed inside the bunker. Offcials from the United Nations were also there at the time of the attack.
In seemed that an IED was placed in the stands. After the blast nine people got injured but apparently, there have been no revelation of any casualities. The second innings is underway following the blast.
“The match was going on between two teams in Shpageza League, and during the match, a blast happened; four civilians in the crowd have been injured,” the Chief Executive of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Nassib Khan, said in a statement. No terror group has take the responsibilty for the attack so far.

This blast took place two days after an explosion near the gate of Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul. Two people died in the attack including a Sikh community memeber. The Islamic State (IS) had claimed the responsibility of the attack.
The Shpageeza Cricket League is an Indian Premier League-style tournament. The tournament started in 2013 with five teams but as Afghanistan rose to be one of the powerhouse in international cricket, three more teams were added.
