Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) quashed all rumors surrounding its split with Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir has been mentoring the Lucknow team since their first season in 2022 in the Indian Premier League (IPL). LSG released the full list of their coaching staff members after the latest addition of Sridharan Sriram. Sriram will serve as assistant coach for the 2024 edition.

Along with Sriram, the coaching staff list has names like Justin Langer, Morne Morkel, Vijay Dahiya, Jonty Rhodes and Gambhir. Australian legend Justin Langer joined the team this year as the head coach of LSG.

And regarding the rumors of split, it started after Gambhir’s on-air ugly spat with former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli. Many fans speculated that due to Gambhir’s behavior, he may lost his spot as a Global Mentor. Then a couple of days ago, there were reports that Gambhir would leave LSG and join his former team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he had captained the side to two IPL trophies.

There were also rumors that he might not be available in the entire tournament due to the Lok Sabha elections. But LSG’s latest press release quashed all the rumors and Gambhir will continue to serve as the franchise’s global mentor.

Gautam Gambhir reportedly expressed his displeasure after seeing camaraderie between India and Pakistan during the 2023 Asia Cup match. On Star Sports, he opined that players need to have a game face and aggression should be visible in the eyes of both the team players. But former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi thinks differently.

That is his thoughts. I think differently. We are cricketers and ambassadors as well, we all have fans across the globe. So it is better to send out a message of love and respect. Yes there is aggression on the field, but there is life off the field as well,” Afridi said (as quoted by Hindustan Times).
