Ajinkya Rahane endured a rather painful injury in KKR’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. The 33 year old finally looked in good touch he managed to hit a couple boundaries as well. However, on the last ball of the 6th over as Rahane places a shot towards fine leg, he pulled his hamstring while running between the wickets.
Even injured, Rahane decided to continue. However, it was only a matter of time until he gout out as he couldn’t play as freely as before. Eventually, Rahane got caught on the edge of the boundary line as he tried to an Umran Malik ball to the fence. A lot of credit must be given to Shashank Singh who took a brilliant catch at third man.

Injury woes haunt KKR as they prepare for their final game against LSG

Before the SRH game, KKR had announced that their star bowler, Pat Cummins has left the camp to recover from a hip injury. This came after Pat Cummins put up a wonderful performance with the bowl to help KKR win against Mumbai Indians. On Saturday as Rahane has started to look like he was getting back in form, he got injured and is now out of IPL. Rahane’s injury could also lead to him missing the upcoming England Tour.
Kolkata have tried multiple opening pair combinations in this season’s IPL. Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Aaron Finch, Sunil Narine, Baba Indrajit and more. However, only once did they manage to put an opening stand of over 50 runs. Hence, it will be a real head scratcher for Shreyas Iyer and the team management to pick their starting XI against Lucknow Super Giants. KKR must win against Lucknow to keep their play-off hope alive as they battle for the 4th place on the points table.
