Royal Challengers Bangalore renamed to Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The city of Bangalore was originally named Bengaluru. Under British rule, the name was anglicized to Bangalore and remained the same until 2014. After a movement started by writer U. R. Ananthamurthy in 2005, the Government of Karnataka began the procedure to rename the city, which was done in 2006. The Union Government in 2014 finally accepted the proposal, with the official name of the city being Bengaluru.

Ten years later, Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to rename themselves to the official name of the city. The change was announced during the RCB Unbox event, where they confirmed the new official name of the team is Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The team also announced a new entrant into their Hall of Fame. The first two entrants were AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, with the 2024 entrant being Vinay Kumar. Kumar played 64 matches for RCB, taking 72 wickets with an average of 25.
