With the IPL auction just a few days away, many teams are strategizing their tactics for the event. Many auctions can be make or break for them, as the purchase of a wrong player can affect the entire season.  

One thing a team needs to focus on is the big money signings in the auction. In the previous auction, the most expensive buys were mostly all-rounders. Sam Curran became the most expensive buy of all time with a bid of ₹18.5 crore.

Out of 1169 players who registered, only 333 players got through to the final auction. Out of the 333 players, 119 are overseas players. With 77 slots available, 30 are for overseas players and remaining 47 for the Indian players. 

List of players with base price of ₹2 crore

In the upcoming 2024 IPL auction, there are 23 players who have priced themselves at the highest base price available. Only 3 are Indians, with them being Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel.

English Test breakout stars, Harry Brooks and Ben Duckett have priced themselves with the highest base price. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have entered after an absence, while Josh Hazlewood was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Travis Head, the man of the match of the World Cup final, has entered. 

Steve Smith, who went unsold in IPL 2022, has also returned to the auction. Rilee Russouw and Gerald Coetzee, who were instrumental in South Africa’s World Cup campaign have also priced themselves at the highest possible.

The auction will be conducted in Dubai, the first time outside India. It’ll be held on 19th December, 2:30 pm IST.
