As the second Indian player to feature in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Ambati Rayudu will leave his impression on the tournament. St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots unexpectedly named Rayudu as their main player for the upcoming season.

Rayudu, an Indian Premier League (IPL) and international cricket star, retired from active cricket earlier this year after helping Chennai Super Kings win their sixth IPL title. His association with the Texas Super Kings in the American Major League Cricket (MLC) was promising until the BCCI suggested a one-year cooling-off period for retired Indian players before they could play in overseas franchise competitions.

“Indian batter Ambati Rayudu has joined the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League. Rayudu will replace Tristan Stubbs who is now no longer available,” announced CPL.

“I am sure Ambati’s seasoned expertise of having won multiple championships with various teams in an illustrious career in India will undoubtedly enrich the experience of our young players as we chase our second CPL title in 2023 “, Mahesh Ramani stated(via crictracker).

The fate of the cooling-off period is not determined, but Rayudu’s participation in the CPL could be a turning point. If allowed, he will join Pravin Tambe as the second Indian cricketer to feature in the tournament. St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots benefit from Rayudu’s over 100 IPL appearances and six championships.

Rayudu could replace Dwayne Bravo in the Patriots lineup when the CPL 2023 season starts on August 17, 2023. He could improve the team’s performance, especially since they failed to advance to the knockout round before. Rayudu’s commitment to mentoring the younger members of the team is evident.
