MS Dhoni receives huge praise for his captaincy across formats and now his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Matthew Hayden lavished another one on him. The former Australia star thinks “magician” Dhoni has the power to turn “trash into treasure”.
Dhoni’s tactics have played a huge role in CSK’s reaching the record-extending 10th Indian Premier League (IPL) final. At the start of the tournament, CSK’s bowling was not much impressive but despite that, he is praised widely for bringing the best out of it as well as for how he used Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube. And that is why Hayden feels Dhoni’s being a skillful captain does some kind of magic.
“MS is a magician. He takes someone else’s trash and makes them a treasure. He is a very skillful and positive captain. He said something really interesting which I thought summed up not only his humility and his truth around cricket where he is represented and that is in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association,” Hayden told PTI.
Like most people, Hayden also gave his opinion surrounding Dhoni’s IPL retirement after this season. According to him, it’s irrelevant whether Dhoni plays or not. “Personally I don’t think he will, but then he is MS Dhoni.”
