Australia captain Pat Cummins is giving a hard time to English reporters with his one-liners in the press conference. While the Aussie captain gave a befitting reply to a reporter who tried to give Cummins and Australia a guilt trip over Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal in the second Test, he now shut down another reporter who claimed that England have gained the advantage in the series after winning the third Test.

Australia failed to save the third Test as they could not defend 250 in their second innings despite Mitchell Starc bagging a fifer. With this defeat, Australia missed out on the chance to take an unassailable lead in the five-match series. Nevertheless, the visitors still have an upper hand with the series scoreline reading 2-1 in their favor.

Pat Cummins reminded the English reporter the same thing when he tried to mock Australia over the loss in the third Test. As the reporters asked if Cummins thinks that the momentum has shifted in England’s favor after this win (in the third Test), the Aussie captain answered, “Not really, no”. When queried about the reason behind, Cummins said, “Ah, 2-1”

The Australia captain looked least bothered about the defeat in the third Test and also felt confident about his team bouncing back at Old Trafford. When asked if there were any similarities between this defeat and the one four years ago (when Ben Stokes pulled off a heist), Cummins’ answer was a plain no.

“It wasn’t one big partnership (Stokes-Jack Leach). I think this game ebbed and flowed the whole way through, whereas that one in 2019 we were ahead for most of it,” said Cummins at the post-match presser (via Cricbuzz).

“It’s a shame, and it’s one of the games you look at and everyone thinks you could have done something just a little bit different that might have contributed to a different result. But we’ve all played enough cricket, so [we will] brush this one off and make sure we get ready for Manchester,” he said.
