Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana predicted that Virat Kohli will score his 71st century against Hong Kong today, that is Wednesday, August 31st in Asia Cup. India will be playing its second match of the Asia Cup of Group A against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE.

During an interview iwth News 21 Sports, Theekshana said that he wants Sri Lanka and India to play the final. He also wished to take Kohli’s wicket in the final.

“I want to play the Asia Cup final against India and get Virat Kohli out. He is an absolutely brilliant player. The last game he played was his 100th T20I. I think he will score his 71st century in the upcoming game against Hong Kong,” the Sri Lankan cricketer said.

Notably, Kohli had scored 35 runs off 34 balls in the last clash against Pakistan which India had won by five wickets. He had shown some signs of return after a prolonged poor form. The match against Pakistan was also his 100th T20I; this makes him the second player after New Zealand legend Ross Taylor to play 100 matches across all formats.

It’s also worth to be noted that Kohli hasn’t scored a ton since November 2019, which he scored against Bangladesh in Kolkata.

Theekshana is part of the Sri Lanka squad in Asia Cup 2022. He had conceded 35 runs off four overs without a wicket when the Lankans had clashed against Afghanistan on tournament opener match on August 27. Sri Lanka also faced an eight-wicket defeat against the Afghanistan.
