Asia Cup 2022: IND vs PAK match is set for August 28 in Dubai- Check out full schedule
INDIA VS PAKISTAN
Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to start from August 27 this year and it will be in T20 format. The wait is over as the two rivals in this sport- India and Pakistan will clash against each other on August 28 in Dubai, UAE.
With no bilateral series between the two countries due to political reasons, the two teams only lock-horn against each other in the ICC events and Asia Cup. But this year, fans can see more matches between them because apart from the group stage, they can play in the quarterfinals or finals as well. Not forgetting the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup just a month after Asia Cup, fans will enjoy the rivalry between the Rohit Sharma‘s Men in Blue and Babar Azam‘s Men in Green in the global tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the fixture of the tournament. The tournament has been shifted out of Sri Lanka due to the prevailing political and economic crisis in the island nation.
“The wait is finally over as the battle for Asian supremacy commences on 27th August with the all-important final on 11th September. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as ideal preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah tweeted this by releasing the fixture.
Group A will comprise India, Pakistan and a Qualifier (yet to be decided) while Group B has Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
India-Pakistan matches are the attraction of the tournament and they will be playing at least two such matches. If they reached the finals, then they’ll play three matches. The top two teams will qualify for the final on September 11 in Dubai.
This year, it will be in T20 format because it is always dependent on which format a global event is round the corner. Next year’s Asia Cup will be an ODI format.
