Australia opener Usman Khawaja revealed a never-heard story related to former India skipper Virat Kohli. In a video shared by Fox Cricket on Instagram, Khawaja recalled meeting Kohli for the first time while sharing why he received a signed jersey from him on the penultimate day of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series earlier in March.
Khawaja said he thought the 2023 BGT series will be his final match against Kohli and that is why he got the memento. “All the way back then so I felt like it might be one of the last times I play against him, probably would be the second last time if we play him once more so I got a nice momento for that,” Khawaja revealed.
Khawaja then added that he has known Kohli since he was 19 years old and went to a cricket academy in Brisbane for the first time and Kohli was one of the players that came from India.
“I was driving around the bus where he was going and he couldn’t drive so I would DD for him a few times, and became good mates with him,” Khawaja added.
Virat Kohli spotted at Mumbai airport with wife Anushka Sharma
After returning to Mumbai following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were spotted at the Mumbai airport. The couple was seen posing for the paparazzi at the airport.
Their appearance has left fans wondering whether Kohli is heading for England for the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) Final, which is scheduled to start on June 7 at The Oval. Rohit Sharma-led India will lock horns with Pat Cummins and Co. again in red-ball cricket.
