The hosting right of the 2023 ODI World Cup is with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This is for the first time the Indian cricket board will be entirely hosting the quadrennial showpiece event and as things are going, it is not headed for a good finish. In fact, the start has been nothing short of abysmal.
While the schedule for the previous two editions- 2015 and 2019 hosted by Australia and England was announced twelve months prior to the event, the 2023 ODI World Cup schedule is not out yet with less than 90 days left for the event. Although BCCI announced the schedule in June last week, there have been issues cropping up, and ICC and BCCI will be coming up with a revised schedule soon.
Due to this delay in the final schedule, fans are unable to book tickets as well. While domestic fans continue to suffer, an Australian journalist called out the Indian cricket board accusing it of incompetency. The journalist said that the BCCI is not evil but is just bad at doing things.
Fans agree with allegations against BCCI
The video of the journalist calling out BCCI went viral on social media and several users too joined in criticizing the world’s richest cricket board. Check out the spectrum of reactions.
However, a use also stood with BCCI saying that it is not the board’s fault if other boards have requested for a change in the schedule.
It is worth mentioning that BCCI is set to prepone the most-anticipated league match of the 2023 ODI World Cup, India vs Pakistan by a day. A few other games will also be rescheduled.
