Pakistan are all set to play their first match since May this year. They will face Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series starting July 16 which will also be their first match in the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Ahead of the Test series, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam‘s captaincy was again questioned during a press conference due to the team’s below-par performance at home.

A reporter highlighted how Pakistan did not do well in Tests, winning only one in nine matches. The reporter then said that if Pakistan loses the match, will Babar think about leaving captaincy to hand it to someone else.

He also quizzed Babar whether due to his captaincy Pakistan are not able to win. Babar in response told the reporter to ask the captaincy-related question to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) because choosing a captain is under the board’s power.

As far as the captaincy is concerned, I always give my best. It’s better if you ask this question to the PCB because they have to take this decision,” Babar replied.

India are scheduled to play Pakistan on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As it’s already known all eyes of the cricket fraternity will be on this match and the hype surrounding India versus Pakistan won’t stop. The two neighbors meet just once or twice after many months of years due to the political tension between them.

When a reporter during the same press conference claimed that Pakistan cricket is being degraded, Babar Azam in his response said that his team won’t play only against India. “Our focus is not on one team but all 10 of them. Our plan is to play well against all teams, win matches and then secure a ticket for the final,” he said.
