Ahead of the Super Four clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday (September 10), Pakistan skipper Babar Azam expressed what he thinks about the Sri Lankan condition. The match is scheduled to be held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Babar said that because Pakistan players had played a lot of matches in Sri Lanka this year, they are going to have an edge over Rohit Sharma and Company. The 28-year-old pointed out that Pakistan played the Test series, the ODI series against Afghanistan, and the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in Sri Lanka which will be an “advantage” for them.

Given the continuous cricket we are playing both in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, you can say that we hold an edge (over India),” said Babar at the pre-match press conference.

As per the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) hybrid model, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are hosting the 2023 Asia Cup tournament. Pakistan are hosting just four matches, while the rest 13 are held in Sri Lanka.

This means Pakistan have to travel a lot. They played their first match against Nepal in Multan, then locked horns with India in Kandy, Sri Lanka, before flying back to Pakistan again for their first Super Four match against Bangladesh where they secured a seven-wicket victory in Lahore.

That match was also the last one of this tournament that was held in Pakistan. And now, the rest of the Super Four matches will take place in Colombo. Addressing the traveling issues, Babar Azam said that because they were aware of the schedule, they have made plans to look after the players.

We always knew the schedule and how much we have to travel. So, it’s become important how we look after our players. We have planned everything well,” he said in the presser.
