Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli to become the fastest Asian to 10,000 international runs

On Sunday, July 17, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam reached a milestone. He became the fastest Asian cricketer to reach 10,000 international runs. He is also the twelfth overall from his country.
The talismanic former India captain Virat Kohli used to hold that spot but Azam broke his record and is standing on top. This happened at the Galle International Stadium during the first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Azam scored 34 runs off 72 balls to reach the milestone.
Virat Kohli had scored 10,000 runs in 232 innings while Azam crossed the mark in 228 innings. Azam is also the fastest Pakistani batter to achieve the 10,000-run mark. Previously, Pakistan’s great Javed Miandad used to hold that record.

Babar Azam is the fifth fastest batsman to score 10,000 runs
But among the fastest cricketer in the world to reach 10,000-run milestone, legendary West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards tops the list who scored the huge runs in just 206 innings.
Babar Azam is also the fifth fastest cricketer international cricketer to cross the mark. Former South Africa batter Hashim Amla crossed it in 217 innings, West Indian legend Brian Lara in 220 innings, England’s former captain Joe Root in 222 innings.
So far, Azam has 10013 runs in 228 innings at 51.08. He has 24 centuries and 66 half-centuries.
Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch and several people have criticised him but India captain Rohit Sharma backed him and so did Pakistan captain Babar Azam. He tweeted with the words, “This too shall pass. Stay strong.” Virat Kohli also answered the tweet by thanking him and said, “Thank you. Keep shining and rising. Wish you all the best.”
