20-year-old Tanzim Hasan Sakib was on top of the world on 15th September, as he made his international debut for Bangladesh in their Super 4 clash against India. He was a part of the U-19 Bangladesh team that won the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. On his 2nd delivery, he got Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, out. He later picked up the wicket of debutant Tilak Varma as well, finishing the game with 2 wickets. India ended up losing the match, with Tanzim’s opening spell playing an important role.
A few days later, old facebook posts of Tanzim went viral. These posts included misogynistic comments and have gotten him into trouble. In one of the posts that went viral, he wrote how women working had caused the rights of husbands and children to be neglected. He added that working women will destroy the woman’s charm, their families, their veils and then society.
He had also shared a photo of a woman wearing a Burkha in the 1950s, calling it “the golden past.” In another post he wrote if a man marries a woman who roams freely, his child would never get a modest mother.
