The first two days of the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have not been going well for the hosts. Electing to bat first at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the Sri Lankans put the hosts through a tedious five sessions as they scored 531 runs.

The first innings saw five out of the top six batters hit half centuries, with all of them regularly stitching up partnerships for fun. Meanwhile the Bangladeshi fielders kept dropping catches, with the visitors punishing them for each drop. Unfortunately, the slip corden showcased an embarrassing blunder on the 2nd day, which caused close to fifty runs.

In the 121st over, Khaled Ahmed was bowling the 2nd over of his afternoon spell. He was bowling to Prabath Jayasuriya, who just came in after the pacer had taken the wicket of Dhananjaya de Silva.

In the last ball of the over, the pacer got an edge off the batter, and the ball sailed to Najmul Hossain Shanto at first slip, who managed to drop it. The ball popped out of his hand and he managed to push it into the hands of Shahadat Hossain Dipu.

Dipu dropped it as well, with the ball bouncing up. Zakir Hasan, who was at third slip, could’ve taken the catch but failed as well. That drop cost 57 runs, as Jayasuriya was finally dismissed for 28.

Bangladesh take one of the worst reviews of all time

During the 43rd over of the first innings, Sri Lanka were cruising with 151 runs on board. Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis had already settled down and looked extremely comfortable batting in the middle.

On the fifth ball of the over, Mendis stepped out to Taijul Islam and blocked the ball. Despite no appeals from any of the fielders, bowler or keeper, captain Shanto decided to take a review as they believed it touched the pad before the bat. When shown to the third umpire, it was revealed that it hit the middle of the bat and the hosts lost a review.

Bangladesh batted for 15 overs at the end of day two, scoring 55/1. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the only batter to be dismissed, Islam being sent in as a tailender.
