In the past few months the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was constantly under scrutiny of fans. Let it be the ticketing process or the inability of organizing the World Cup. Once again fans are unhappy with BCCI after Dainik Jagran reported that there was a huge program planned for the fixture between India and Pakistan.
Regarded as the biggest fixtures in the World Cup after the finals, the match will be played in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on the 14th of October. Dainik Jagran, a very famous newspaper in India, reported that the BCCI was planning to host a huge program before the match starts.
It is reported that Indian superstars, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikant would be making an appearance along with the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar. Along with them, Indian singer Arijit Singh would be singing in front of the crowd and there would be more performances.
Fans call pre-match ceremony unnecessary
This ceremony is happening in a normal group stage match, while the BCCI decided to not have an opening ceremony before the ODI World Cup opener. Although New Zealand and England played the first match of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, there was no performances planned for the start of the tournament.
Fans asked if this was even necessary, as the World Cup did not have an opening ceremony. Many said this was just a cash grab by the BCCI. Almost every fan called out the importance a group stage match had.
