In what comes as a massive development about Jasprit Bumrah’s recovery and his comeback to cricket, the star India pacer is touted to make a return with the T20I series against Ireland. Jasprit Burmah will be seen in action when India tours Ireland for a T20I series in August and then the pacer can take part in the two big tournaments- Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
News18 CricketNext has claimed that Bumrah is recovering well from his back injury which has kept him out of action since September 2022 and hence can feature in the three-match T20I series. The website also quoted a top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official who has been tracking Bumrah’s progress.
“Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian cricket team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury lay-off. If everything stays on course, a Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take the field,” the official was quoted saying.
No rush to bring Jasprit Bumrah back!
While the BCCI erred big time rushing Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback last time around (before the T20 World Cup), the board does want to take any chance this time. BCCI, as well as Bumrah’s IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI), are focused on the longevity of pacer’s career. While MI did not show any urgency to bring Jasprit Bumrah back on the field during IPL 2023, BCCI is happy to recall the pacer as and when he is ready.
“Everyone understands the importance of Bumrah in any team. May it be the Indian team or the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. With previous attempts of having him back being unsuccessful, everyone was happy to play the waiting game and allow the seamer to regain full fitness before he turns up for India again,” the report quoted a source close to developments.
