The ongoing TNPL 2023 season has been nothing short of an entertaining blockbuster. After R Ashwin’s double review and 18 runs off 1 ball, there was yet another bizarre incident in the tournament.

In the match against Salem Spartans, Lyca Kuvai Kings’ batter S Sujay was involved in a run-out at the non-striker’s end but did not lose his wicket. As the bowling team did not appeal for it, the run-out went unnoticed.

Sujay was at 10 off 7 when he was run out but after it was unnoticed, he went on to hit 44 of 32 balls including 6 fours. Lyca Kuvai Kings ended up winning the match by 79 runs. The Salem Spartans failed to notice the run-out and it can be said that this missed opportunity potentially cost them the match.

Another bizarre incident in TNPL 2023

S Sujay attempted to push for a double when he was on 10 off 7. While completing the first single, there was a run-out attempted at the non-striker’s end and to get out of the way of the ball, Sujay jumped in the air creating a big gap between his legs and the pitch. Coincidentally, the ball crashed into the stumps right when Sujay was still in the air.

According to the rules in cricket, the batter had not made his ground since technically no part of his body was in touch with the crease or beyond, and was liable to lose his wicket. The Salem Spartans failed to notice this incident and made no appeal to the umpire. The run-out went unnoticed by the umpire as well. The replay showed the batter in the air when the bails fall off.

The TNPL keeps getting better and more intense with each match bringing in bizarre instances, exciting matches, and passionate performances.
