Pitch invaders have become a more common occurrence in India in the past few months. The 2023 ODI World Cup saw many pitch invaders and it didn’t stop just there. The next few matches India played at home were disturbed by pitch invaders as well.
Recently, a fan ran onto the pitch during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match with Punjab Kings. He ran in the middle and hugged the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli. The fan touched Kohli’s his feet before being dragged out by the Chinnaswamy security. Just a month ago, a fan ran into the pitch during Women’s Premier League, but was tackled by Alyssa Healy.
In a new video that has surfaced, it shows the pitch invader being thrashed. As he was being beaten up, he begged for mercy from the security before he was escorted out of the stadium by the police. It has not been confirmed if the video is legitimate or not.
Aaron Finch enraged after reading reports of Virat Kohli getting dropped
In the past few weeks, there reports of Virat Kohli being dropped from the Indian team for the upcoming 2024 T20I World Cup. They were unhappy with his batting approach and believed he would struggle in the West Indies.
Aaron Finch, who works in ESPNcricinfo Around the Wicket, also called the reports “rubbish,” saying Kohli is the greatest white-ball batter he has ever seen. He said he is also fed up with how these reports come before any major tournament.
I can't understand why every time there is an ICC event coming up, any format, people always talk about Virat Kohli. Is he under pressure for his spot? That is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever heard in my life. He is the greatest player that I've ever seen in white-ball cricket.Aaron Finch to ESPNcricinfo
Finch, who won the 2021 T20 World Cup as captain, said he’d pick Kohli over any player who still strikes above him. He said it was ludicrous that they are still having conversations over the topic.
