Rishabh Pant injured in a car accident
India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is undergoing treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun. He escaped a major car accident on National Highway 58, at the Narsan border of Roorkee in Uttarakhand, in the early hours of Friday (December 30). According to the police and doctor, Pant is out of danger and in stable condition. He was traveling to Roorkee from Delhi to surprise his mother and celebrate the New Year with his family.
According to police officials, the 25-year-old was driving the car himself, dozed off, and lost control of the Mercedes GLE43 Coupe when it crashed into the divider at high speed and turned into a ball of fire. The car first collided with a pile of soil, then it spin out of control before colliding with the guard rails and charred within minutes. Pant broke off one window and called an ambulance and the police for help.

“Hearing a loud sound of the accident, nearby villagers along with the local cops, rushed to the spot and pulled him out of the car. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a major hospital in Dehradun,” said Swapn Kishor Singh, superintendent of police, Haridwar (rural).
Pant was first taken to a nearby hospital in Roorkee before he was transferred to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. As per reports, he sustained injuries on his head, leg, forehead, ligament injury on his right ankle, and has bruises all over his body.

He was most recently a part of India’s Test squad when they toured Bangladesh. He scored a match-winning 93 in the Mirpur Test. But he is dropped from the T20I series against Sri Lanka starting on January 3. He was to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning before the Test series against Australia in February. He may lose a year in cricket after the accident.
