The T20 cricket leagues generates a lot of revenue and a big sources of income for the cricket boards. Cricket South Africa (CSA) will start a new T20 league in their country and they have invited bids. Since, the sucess of the Indian Premier League (IPL), every cricket board has started their own T20 league.

The deadline of the bids was 11th July but it has been extended till Wednesday, that is today, July 13 due to the request of the participants. England’s international Audit firm, Deloitte and Touche have been appointed for the assessment of the bids.

Several IPL teams including the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals (RR) have given expression of interest (EoI) for buying teams in the new SA’s new T20 league. Even Pakistan Super League (PSL) and a Kevin Pietersen-led party also showed interest so far in the bidding. Also,

CSA has received 29 EOI so far. The teams will be announced at the end of July. It’ll be an exiting week for Cricket South Africa.

“Want to create the 2nd best T20 league in the world”- CSA officials

CSA wants to make its league the 2nd best in the world after IPL. In a document released by the CSK said:

“There is a clear gap between the best (IPL) and the 2nd best league. CSK should therefore focus on the opportunity to create the 2nd best T20 league in the world.”

According to Cricbuzz, six franchises are expected to be part of this league. The league will be played in the months of January-February. Also, CSA officials have confirmed that there would be no base price of teams.
