Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are locking horns on Thursday (August 31) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. Sri Lanka, with the help of Matheesha Pathirana and Mahsesh Theekshana, bundled out Bangladesh for just 164 runs in 42.4 overs.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat first, but this decision backfired. Except for Najmul Hossain Shanto, no Bangladesh batter could reach even 30. Maheesh Theekshana first broke Bangladesh’s back when he dismissed opener Tanzid Hasan, then sent Shanto to packing in the 42nd over.

Pathirana, on the other hand, dismissed Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman. He scalped these four wickets in 7.4 overs, conceding 32 runs at an economy of 4.17.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans are quite happy after Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana’s performance. It is no surprise that CSK fans are crediting Yellow Jersey skipper MS Dhoni for grooming these two Sri Lankan youngsters.

In 13 matches, Theekshana scalped 11 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. On the other hand, Pathirana, in IPL 2023, played 12 matches and scalped 19 wickets.

Talking about the match, Sri Lanka (at the time of writing this article) have scored 53/3 in 13 overs. The two batters who got dismissed were Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne. It’s easy to predict a winner here as Sri Lanka need 112 more runs in 37 overs to win the match.
