When Australia had just one percent chance of winning the match against Afghanistan after a fall of seven wickets for 91 runs, few might have predicted Glenn Maxwell doing the impossible. But Mad Max pulled off the unthinkable at the Wankhede Stadium to take the cricket world by storm.

His blitzkrieg guided Australia to a three-wicket victory on Tuesday (November 7). A day after producing one of the greatest ODI innings in the history of cricket, Maxwell took to his Instagram account to share a picture of him lying exhausted after suffering cramps.

A few overs after completing his century, Maxwell fell on the ground after suffering cramps. But he got up and, despite the cramp on his legs, he captivated everyone by smashing sixes.

Never go full salmon…

Here’s his post:

Glenn Maxwell will take his time to soak in what he produced

From 128 balls, Glenn Maxwell scored an unbeaten 201 runs with 21 boundaries and 10 sixes, at a strike rate of 157.03. He reached his double ton, off a six, which eventually guided his team to victory. His 201* is also the highest by any batter in the second innings, and also the first double ton in the fifty-over format in the second innings.

It’s so fresh at the moment I’m a bit numb to it. It was great fun. It just felt like it was me and Patty [Cummins] having fun out there.
Maxwell said after the match.

He further said:

I’ll probably reflect a bit more over the next few days and hopefully recover and get some movement back in my hamstring and calves. It’s pretty raw at the moment.

He and skipper Pat Cummins forged a formidable 189-run stand, where Cummins’ contribution was a patient and valuable 12 runs from 68 balls. Australia will next horns with Bangladesh on November 11.
