India and Australia are facing off each other in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup finals being played in Ahmedabad. India were sent in to bat first and Australia picked up 3 wickets within the first 11 overs. As Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were in the middle, an activist ran into the ground and hugged Kohli.
During the 14th over, a fan wearing a white t-shirt, shorts and a mask entered the field, ran towards Kohli and hugged him. On the t-shirt he wore, “Stop bombing Palestine” was printed along with the flag of Palestine. The fan did cause a delay, but was quickly removed from the field and arrested by the police.
In the past few months, Israel has been at war with Hamas, which is based in Gaza, as a response to an attack conducted. Millions of Palestinians have been affected, with cities being reduced to rubble.
KL Rahul and Virat Kohli rebuild Indian innings
After being sent to bat first, Rohit Sharma started playing freely and hitting the Australian bowlers, but Shubman Gill departed for only 4 runs. Rohit and Kohli brought up a partnership of 46 before Rohit was caught by Travis Head after he stepped out to Glenn Maxwell.
Shreyas Iyer also didn’t last long, as he got dismissed by Pat Cummins for only 4 runs. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are currently in the middle for India, in an attempt to ensure they stay till the end of the innings. Kohli is with 41 runs and KL with 21 at the end of the 21st over.
